Last Halloween: witching hour
DJ HOOLIGAN: Mio, Oct. 30

While giants of the promotion business Zeppelin and Organised Kaos were planning their pompous Halloween events last year by ordering movie-studio decorations and signing up big-name acts from major international booking agencies, modest Mio decided to simply serve up good music. The end result was hundreds of costumed clubbers trying to squeeze into the diminutive club to see Zombie Nation perform.

Hooligan: Mio
This year it seems likely that once again Mio may prove too small for the fame of its guest act, DJ Hooligan (aka Da Hool), and his international admirers.

DJ Hooligan started his career in 1989 in Germany and is often said to be responsible for the techno revolution that gripped German music in the ’90s. His singles “B.O.T.T.R.O.P.”, “Rave Nation” and “Meet Her at the Loveparade” were dancefloor hits around the globe. In 1996, DJ Hooligan set up the Hooligan Productions label and B-Sides sub label featuring such performers as Timo Maas and Oliver Klein.

ORGANIZED HALLOWEEN: Petrovsky Zamok, Oct. 30

The original Halloween trendsetter and one of the most productive promotion groups in the city, Organised Kaos is to come out with another All Saints’ Eve-inspired party on Oct. 30. This year the promoters plan to bring old spirits back to life by hosting their Halloween activities at Petrovsky Zamok.

DJ Kenny “Dope” Gonzalez, known for remixing hits for such musicians as Bjork, Deee-Lite, Neneh Cherry, Soul II Soul, Donna Summer, Janet Jackson, Daft Punk, Incognito and Brand New Heavies, is booked to be the musical medium for the night, along with DJ Keri (US).
