Strong turnout for sets last month by visiting British DJs Dave McSherry and Momma Gravy would seem to indicate punters are finally catching on to the idea that Shanti is more than just a restaurant with a gallery shop and tearoom. Shanti has a separate bar as well as a small dancefloor surrounded by a cushioned lounge that makes for a relaxing spot to watch the DJ. The restaurant and tearoom spaces are also open on the clubbing nights, as is the gallery shop, which moonlights as a chillout.
The clubbing nights start early, at 7pm-8pm, with DJs and live acts coming on around 9pm and finishing by midnight-1am. This makes Shanti suitable as a pre-party spot — although there’s always the option of staying, as it’s open until 5am on weekends.
